Purpose of the Orff Zentrums München
 
 
According to the resolution the State of Bavaria passed, the task of the Munich Orff Center, which opened its doors in July 1990, is to "promote a lively discussion of the life and work of the composer Carl Orff and to give new impetus to scholarly research into his works."

This task encompasses:

  • Caring for Carl Orff's posthumous papers
  • Promoting the discussion of the composer's life and work
  • Stimulating scholarly research into his work
  • Collecting and preserving material by and on Carl Orff
  • Cataloguing and providing access to the collection and its holdings for the benefit of performers and scholars
  • Promoting and issuing publications Holding events such as concerts, lectures, symposia, and exhibitions.


The Munich Orff Center fulfills its tasks in cooperation with the Bavarian State Library (Bayerische Staatsbibliothek) and the Carl Orff Foundation (Carl Orff-Stiftung). Thanks to the financial support of the Foundation, the Center is also able to award scholarships and research commissions.
